Yet King Charles is not just the head of state in the UK. He is currently King in fourteen other countries, eight of which are in the Caribbean. Since Barbados’ 2021 transition to republic, the monarchy’s position in the Caribbean has come under sustained scrutiny, prompting debates about constitutional change and reparative justice.’
